Is therapy confidential?Yes. Everything you share with your therapist is confidential and protected under HIPAA law. We will not release your information without your written consent, except in rare cases where disclosure is legally required (such as safety concerns or court orders).

What steps do you take to protect my privacy?We use secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms for online sessions, encrypted systems for records, and follow strict ethical standards to keep your information safe.

Will my family, employer, or school know I’m in therapy?No. Your participation in therapy is private. Unless you choose to share this information, no one outside of Blue Oak Counseling will know you are in treatment.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a fee.

What if I don’t feel comfortable with my therapist?You always have the right to switch providers. Our intake team will help match you with a therapist who feels like the best fit for your needs.

How do I schedule an appointment?You can request an appointment online through our contact form or by calling us directly at (909) 366-4712. Our intake team will ask a few questions to understand your needs and then match you with the best therapist for you.

How soon can I get an appointment?Availability varies depending on the therapist and your schedule, but most new clients are seen within 1–2 days. We’ll do our best to accommodate urgent needs as quickly as possible.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?Yes. Many of our therapists offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to make therapy accessible for busy clients.

What happens in the first appointment?Your first session is focused on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and setting goals for therapy. Your therapist will also answer any questions you have about the process.

Can I request a specific therapist?Yes. If you have someone in mind, just let us know. Otherwise, our intake team will recommend a therapist who best fits your needs, preferences, and insurance coverage.

Can I switch therapists if it doesn’t feel like the right fit?Absolutely. We want you to feel comfortable with your therapist. If you’d like to try a different provider, just let our intake team know, and we’ll make the transition as smooth as possible.

Do you accept insurance?Yes. Blue Oak Counseling is in-network with Kaiser, Aetna, Cigna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Shield, Blue Cross, Anthem, Carebridge EAP, Health Advocate EAP, and IEHP.

How can I verify if my insurance covers therapy sessions?Our intake team will contact your insurance provider on your behalf to confirm coverage, co-pays, and deductibles before your first appointment. You’ll receive information if there is any financial responsibility before your session.

What if Blue Oak is not in-network with my insurance?If we are not in-network, you may be able to use out-of-network benefits. Many clients are reimbursed by their insurance company after submitting a superbill (an itemized statement we provide upon request).

What forms of payment do you accept?We accept debit/credit cards and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) cards. Payment is collected at the time of service for any co-pays or out-of-pocket costs.

Will I know my costs before starting therapy?Yes. Once your insurance benefits are verified, we will review your estimated costs with you. Transparency is important to us, and we make sure you understand what to expect before your first session.

What if my insurance coverage changes?If you change insurance plans, please notify us right away so we can update your information and verify your new coverage. This helps avoid interruptions in care.

Do you offer private-pay rates?Yes. If you choose not to use insurance, we offer straightforward self-pay rates ranging from $125 to $185. Our intake team can discuss this option and provide you with a Good Faith Estimate, as required by law.
